Salted vegetables (stock base) / Eingesalzenes Gemüse

1.75 kgs safe veggies, eg: celery, parsnip, carrots, some fresh herbs (parsley, lovage, chives…), some green spring onion stalks (not too much, annoying taste!)

250g salt

Cut veggies into pieces, then put into food processor/ mixer and slice/ puree them to a very fine mush. Then mix good with the salt, and put into clean glass containers.

It will keep in he fridge pretty long, thanks to the salt.

I use a tablespoon of this mix for soups instead of stock.

Probiotics/ Probiotika

Probiotics are very, very important.
I believe that DFI is actually started because of an imbalance of the intestinal microflora, since a lot of sufferers report that it all began with parasites, gastroenteritis or antibiotics.

I have read a lot scientific papers by now about probiotics, and I take some myself, too.
It is important that the ones you take have no FOS (Fermentable Oligo Saccharides), Polyles or Lactose, and that they have bacteria that actually work in your intestinal system (and not against a cold)
And another important thing: depending on your sensitivity, you will react against them. Big time. It usually takes 2-3 weeks until you stop reacting. But keep on going, it will calm down. And if you can open the capsules, start with a dash and increase the amount you have until you can take a whole tablet. And take them with something cold, heat normally kills them off.

The winners are/ die Gewinner sind:

Align (lactobazillus infantis)
VSL3 (8 different strains)
Lactobazillus plantarum v299

Or look for somehing that has some of these strains:

Bifidobacterium Breve
Bifidobacterium Infantis
Bifidobacterium longum
Lactobazillus Acidophilus
Lactobazillus Bulgaricus
Lactobazillus Plantarum
Lactobazilus Fermentum
Streptococcus Thermophilus

They are not a cure, but they can help a big deal.
